A note from Jeff:
My path started with training to be a Shakespearean actor in the Berkeshires of Massachusetts. It was there that I was introduced to the concept that the human body starts out fully connected to our life force, but that the experience of life shuts us down and shapes our nervous system in ways that curtail access to this vitality. The physical and vocal training necessary to create an actor capable of portraying the full spectrum of human experience present in classical theatre is also what is necessary to enable a full, healthy and vital experience of our own lives.
Pursuing a career in the arts, which brought me to New York City, necessitated learning a trade that could support me economically. I elected to pursue licensure as a massage therapist which led to a very fulfilling chapter in my career working with actors and dancers performing in the vibrant New York City arts scene.
Working with the human body has led me on a journey of constantly striving to broaden my skill set to help my clients, and my next step was to achieve licensure as an acupuncturist after receiving my Masters Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. While what attracted me to this modality was the desire to be able to “dry-needle” trigger points, the process of learning Classical Chinese Medicine deeply enriched my life through being immersed in Taoist cosmology and an understanding of the world as a manifestation of balance between opposing forces - expansion and contraction, breathing in and breathing out, or Yin and Yang.
While remaining rooted in this awareness, I have expanded my tool kit further by learning to incorporate the latest in energetic health technologies - Frequency Specific Microcurrent and Cold Laser, which have allowed me to help my clients achieve even greater results in reconnecting to their vitality.
My ongoing training includes mental health modalities, breath work and meditation as I continually work to improve my own life experience and that of the people who entrust me with enhancing their health and wellness.
Licensure and Education: Dr. Schoenheit received his Doctorate of Traditional Chinese Medicine (DTCM) from Five Branches University in California, his Master's degree in 2014 from the Atlantic Institute in Florida, and his Associate’s degree in Massage Therapy from the Swedish Institute of New York City in 2003. He is Nationally Board Certified as a Diplomate by the NCCAOM, and licensed as both an Acupuncturist (L.Ac.) and Massage Therapist (LMT) in New York State.
